- Cashew nut is considered low vitamin K (34.8mcg/100g of nut)
- One ounce of cashew nut contains 13% of daily Vitamin K requirement (above 20% is considered Vit K rich food)
- Studies have shown that, compared to other nuts, consumption of cashew nut and pine nut can be high, leading to high level of Vitamin K consumptions
- Other nuts are categorised as low Vitamin K food
Cashew Fruit
- Not much study on vitamin K content
- The fruit is rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants such as anarcardic acid.
- The use of ascorbic acid has been implicated in causing warfarin resistance. However, controlled clinical trials have not demonstrated clinically important variations in prothrombin times
- Based on the nut content and nature of the fruit, it can be postulated the fruit does contain vitamin K. but with an unknown level.
