Mycophenolate: Dermatological Side Effects

• Dermatological skin reactions are common and consists of about 3-20% of cases
• Skin reactions could also be a consequences of mucocutaneous infections from opportunistic microorganisms due to immunosuppressant. 

Skin Related Side Effects

• acne, alopecia, fungal dermatitis, hemorrhage, hirsutism, pruritus, rash, skin benign neoplasm, skin carcinoma, skin disorder, skin hypertrophy, skin ulcer, sweating, vesiculobullous rash

Common Infections

Rare Severe Skin ADR

• Based on FDA Database, Between January 2004 and October 2012, there was only 1 reported BUTTERFLY RASH, 1 skin lesions, 1 mouth ulceration
• Case report - acute papulosquamous, psoriatic-like skin eruption 1 month following treatment

Contact Irritation

as the medication is an irritant to mucosal and skin layer, chewing the tablet or direct contact of the powder to skin may cause erythema and irritation
