Pediatric Insulin Sliding Scale

Other Managements:

1. Based on Pediatric Diabetic Ketoacidosis IV infusion to SC Conversion


2. Based on 'Thinking Scale' for Self Dose Adjustment
Correction Factor

  • Estimation of how much 1 unit of rapid-acting insulin will lower the blood sugar (Insulin Sensitivity Factor, ISF)
  • Must be individually set
  • Exm: 1 unit of rapid-acting insulin lowers blood sugar level by 2mmol/L
  • The amount given to correct these high values are called Correction Bolus/Dose
Insulin Scale
  • Amount of insulin to be given before a meal, listed on a scale
  • Calculated based on individual Correction Factor and Target Blood Sugar Range
