Content
Interactions
Noni
  • Initial studies have shown some hypoglycaemic effects
  • Medications for high blood pressure (ACE inhibitors, Potassium-sparing diuretics, ARBs) interacts with NONI
  • Consuming noni juice along with these medications for high blood pressure might cause too much potassium in the blood
  • Taking noni along with medication that might also harm the liver can increase the risk of liver damage
  • Taking noni juice might decrease how well warfarin (Coumadin) works to slow blood clotting. This could increase the chance of blood clotting
Cassia Bark
  • There is inconsistent evidence on the effectiveness of cassia cinnamon for treating diabetes.
  • Early research suggests that taking cassia cinnamon for about 6 six weeks might help control blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes.
  • Taking very large doses of cassia cinnamon might harm the liver, especially in people with existing liver disease or taking medications that might also harm the liver
Barley
  • Barley might decrease blood sugar by decreasing the absorption of sugars from food
  • Barley contains a large amount of fiber. Fiber can decrease how much medicine the body absorbs
Asparagus
  • Asparagus might have an effect like a water pill or "diuretic."
Reishi Mushroom
  • Early research suggests that taking a specific reishi mushroom product (Ganopoly) daily for 12 weeks reduces hemoglobin but not blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes
  • might decrease blood pressure. Taking reishi mushroom along with medications for high blood pressure might cause your blood pressure to go too low
  • High doses of reishi mushroom might slow blood clotting

Recommendations:
  • as the amount of ingredients are unknown, it can be said that there would be a slight fluctuations in the blood sugar readings
  • if taken, it is advisable to monitor blood sugar level closely for a short period to avoid hypoglycemic events
  • as the combination of products can be harmful to the liver, a long term monitoring of liver (and renal) profile is also recommended
