EFFECTIVENESS
- Osteoarthritis: Most studies showed that 30mg Etoricoxib is comparable to 200mg Celecoxib which is comparable to 2400mg Ibuprofen. A study suggested 30mg Etoricoxib is likely to show greater improvement in pain and physical function over 200mg Celecoxib.
- Spondylitis: 90mg Etoricoxib was shown to be superior to 200/400mg Celecoxib
- Post operative: 120mg Etoricoxib was shown to be superior to 400mg Celecoxib
- No available studies comparing the equivalence of 60mg Etoricoxib with higher dosages of Celecoxib or greater frequency
- Preemptive analgesia for acute postoperative pain after athroscopic anterior cruciate ligament resconstruction: 120mg etoricoxib was shown to be superior to 400mg Celecoxib
- Both agents are comparable in terms of safety
- Etoricoxib has a higher rate of hypertension related adverse effect compared to Celecoxib
