- Febrile neutropenia, Lower respiratory tract infection, severe sepsis
Other guidelines:
- Hospital acquired pneumonia, septicaemia, complicated infections involving urinary tract or skin and soft tissues, complicated intra-abdominal infections, appendicitis, peritonitis
Frank Shann
- 100mg/kg (based on piperacillin only) TDS (<6 months) QID (>6 months); consider constant infusion for severe infection
BNF for children
- > 12 years use adult dosing
- 90mg/kg TDS-QID (max 4.5g QID)
- For complicated intra abdominal infection 112.5mg/kg (max 4.5g) TDS
- >50kg refere adult dosing
- Neutropenia: 80/ 10mg / kg QID, in combination with the appropriate dose of an aminoglycoside
- Abdominal infection: 100/12.5mg / kg TDS (product leaflet)
