Monitoring
· Baseline- FBC (uric acid etc) , Random Blood Sugar, Renal Profile, LFT, CXR, HIV screening test, MTB
C&S, sputum smears
· Chest x-ray follow up at 2 and 6 months of anti-TB treatment
· LFT at 2-4 weeks and if necessary, at 2 months
· Sputum smears- If initially positive, repeat at 2 and 6 months. If initially negative, repeat at 2 months and if
still negative no further sample is required
· Opthalmatic examinations before starting and periodic
· Side effects counseling (i.e visual disturbances, reddish colouration of urine, tears, saliva and sputum and
staining of contact lenses, signs of liver disorders such as persistent nausea, vomiting, malaise or jaundice,
rashes)
· Patient compliance
